Health Technology Assessment International (HTAi) is pleased to announce that its Executive Director, George Valiotis, has been appointed as a Non-Executive Board Member of NHS Education for Scotland (NES), following a ministerial appointment by the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, Neil Gray MSP. This four-year appointment is a testament to George’s exceptional contributions to advancing health systems and workforce development through education and innovation.
NES is a national organization responsible for developing and delivering education and training to support Scotland’s health and social care workforce. The agency plays a critical role in ensuring a skilled, adaptable workforce capable of delivering high-quality care.
George will undertake this part-time role, requiring approximately one day per week, in his own time and alongside his work as Executive Director of HTAi. His appointment reflects his extensive experience in education, workforce development, and leadership across health systems globally and locally in Scotland.
This prestigious appointment reflects George’s extensive expertise in healthcare and education and provides an opportunity to further enhance understanding of workforce development strategies within health systems. While independent of his role at HTAi, George’s insights from this position may contribute to broader global conversations on evidence-based approaches to strengthening health systems, aligned with HTAi’s mission to advance the use of health technology assessment worldwide.
George shares, “I am honoured to join the NES Board and contribute to its important mission of supporting Scotland’s health and care workforce. Education and training have been central to my career, and this role complements my work at HTAi. I look forward to sharing insights and learning from NES’s approach to workforce development, while continuing my full commitment to HTAi’s mission of advancing health systems globally.”
Please join us in congratulating George on this outstanding achievement!
