HTAi’s draft 2025–2027 Strategic Plan is now available—and we invite you to review it ahead of upcoming consultation activities.
A Strategic Plan defines an organization’s purpose, priorities, and intended impact. For HTAi, this plan is more than a roadmap, it’s a tool to remain aligned with the evolving needs of the global HTA community. Reflecting today’s fast-changing health and policy landscape, this new plan moves to a shorter, two-year cycle to allow for greater agility, responsiveness, and stakeholder engagement.
The Plan outlines five strategic pillars: Scientific Exchange, People, Capacity Building, Advocacy, and Global, each supported by an operational approach focused on convening, listening, connecting, adapting, and supporting.
Over the next three months, HTAi will host a global consultation to gather feedback. Opportunities to participate will include:
- A survey (open throughout the consultation period)
- Regional webinars across six global regions
- Engagement with key groups including the Legacy Advisory Council, Interest Group Chairs, and PFAC
Your input is essential. Follow the button below to read the draft Strategic Plan and prepare to take part in the consultation.
◤ Introducing the HTAi Gaps & Needs Initiative
HTAi is excited to share a significant new initiative designed to proactively identify and address critical areas within health technology assessment (HTA): the HTAi Gaps & Needs Initiative.
As the HTA field is constantly evolving, HTAi recognizes that areas where scientific knowledge, methods, or tools are missing or need further development may emerge. The Gaps & Needs Initiative consists in a structured approach to pinpoint these “gaps” and “needs,” ensuring that HTAi focuses its efforts on the most pressing issues for our global community. It ultimately aims to foster new research, develop valuable resources (like webinars, workshops, and articles), and advance the scientific foundations of HTA.
How it works
The Gaps & Needs Initiative is a continuous process that combines both proactive and reactive approaches to gather insights from different sources. Topics will be taken from discussions at HTAi events (Annual Meetings, Regional Meetings, Policy Forums), submitted by Interest Groups and Partners and, crucially, suggested from members and general public.
Help us identify the gaps
We invite the whole HTA community, either members or not, to submit topics or areas perceived as gaps or in critical need of further advancement within the field. Gaps & Needs is an excellent opportunity to highlight where collective efforts should be directed to further HTA science and practice.
To submit a topic, please use our dedicated online form via the button below.

The International Journal of Technology Assessment in Health Care (IJTAHC) has introduced a new type of manuscript: Dialogue.
This innovative format is designed to spark constructive, interdisciplinary conversations on complex, emerging, or likely contested topics in health technology assessment (HTA). The Editorial Team will periodically identify articles accepted for publication which are believed suitable for starting a dialogue on the topic. Contributors, representing different stakeholder groups, are invited to write a reflection on the topic (up to 2,000 words).
Dialogue articles are reviewed internally by the Editorial Team and are exempt from article processing charge (APC). Click the button below to check out the first Dialogue series published.
