Updates from the HTAi 2023 Annual Meeting
Happy New Year, everyone!
A new year brings new announcements for the upcoming Annual Meeting, which will take place in-person in Adelaide, Australia, June 24-28, 2023!
Themes
The 2023 Annual Meeting will focus on the theme, “The Road to Policy and Clinical Integration”, and explore questions such as:
- How can we build pathways to fast-track innovation while minimizing risk?
- What supports are required to harmonize HTA processes between similar jurisdictions?
- What is the feasibility of aligning technology evaluation processes and decisions in an era of sustainable development?

Discounts are up to 15% and reduced fares will be automatically displayed.
Please note: Annual Meeting delegates are responsible for selecting their own booking company and securing travel arrangements to Adelaide.
The Lufthansa Group flight program provided to HTAi delegates is only one option delegates are able utilize to book a flight directly with an airline at a discounted rate. HTAi cannot guarantee that the fares offered through the Lufthansa Group flight program are the cheapest available in the market for any particular route. All delegates are welcome to book through their preferred carrier, using their preferred deal, flight plan, and method. Additionally, HTAi does not benefit from any of its delegates booking with the Lufthansa Group, discounts are directly applied to the booking party only.
Coming Soon: HTAi Board Nominations
With only one month away from the start of 2023 we have some exciting news: HTAi Board Nominations open soon, and YOU could be the elected to the Board!
In February 2023, the HTAi Board of Directors and its Nominating Committee will open the nominations for members in good standing for the following positions on the Board:
- One (1) Vice President position, with a total commitment of six (6) years: two-year term as Vice President (2023-2025), two-year term as President (2025-2027), and two-year term as Past President (2027-2029)
- Three (3) positions of Director with a term of three years (2023-2026). These positions are eligible for re-election to a total of six (6) years of service.
To ensure all interested members have adequate time to prepare, requirements for nomination submissions can be found on the Board Elections page on the HTAi website.
Nominations will open at 08:00 MST (15:00 UTC) on February 14, 2023, and close on March 1, 2023, at 23:59 MST (06:59 UTC on March 2).
Please note: All 2022 memberships expired on December 31. Only members in good standing are eligible to run for election and vote. To ensure eligibility, renew your membership today.

HTAi Asia Policy Forum Organizing Committee opens call for nominations
The HTAi Asia Policy Forum Organizing Committee has opened a call for nominations to fill a for-profit and a not-for-profit vacancy. Asia Policy Forum Organizing Committee members are required to commit to continued and diligent support of the content and development of Asia Policy Forum meetings through input on the topic, agenda, the research, framing and reporting of the pre-meeting background paper, the identification of speakers, and several outputs of the meeting. Input will be provided by email and through approximately six (6) 90-minute meetings (by teleconference) per year ahead of the HTAi Asia Policy Forum meeting in late October/early November.
The term of office for member organization representatives is three (3) years and can be extended up to a further three (3) years only, for a maximum six (6) year term.
Please send nominations to the Policy Forum team no later than Friday, January 20, 2023. Nominations will be reviewed by the Asia Policy Forum Chair with the support of the HTAi Secretariat. Please see the terms of reference for more information.

Call for Applications: Technical Officer positions available for two HTAi Interest Groups
Are you new to HTA? Are you interested in connecting with the global HTA community and in learning more about the activities and discussions of one of the HTAi Interest Groups?
The Ethics Interest Group and the Patient & Citizen Involvement Interest Group (PCIG) are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals who are willing to provide one to two days per month to support the group Chairs and Steering Committee as a Technical Officer (TO), from January to December 2023.
Examples of responsibilities include defining agendas, setting calls and taking minutes, writing reports, supporting project work and scientific papers, drafting press releases and other similar activities. Learn more about the opportunity.

To kick off the new year, the Hospital-Based HTA Interest Group has produced a survey to assess the needs and interests of all HTAi members who are interested in hospital-based HTA.

HTAi members are participating in two upcoming webinars hosted by International HealthTechScan. Details are as follows:
Handling the uncertainty in Health Technology Assessment | On January 11, 2023, Speaker Milou Hogervorst will examine how we can handle uncertainty, and the tools and methods that support us to show what we do not know.
Guidelines and training, appropriate use of health technologies | On January 17, 2023, speaker Nora Ibargoyen-Roteta will give insights in the development, use as well as assessment of Clinical Practise Guidelines (CPG) to ensure an appropriate use of health technologies to reach its full intended positive impact on health.
European Commission seeking HTA stakeholders
The European Commission has launched a call for applications to select members for a new Health Technology Assessment Stakeholder Network. The call is part of the implementation of the Health Technology Assessment Regulation (EU) 2021/2282, specifically Article 29 that calls on the Commission to establish a Health Technology Assessment stakeholder network. All applications must be received by 17:00 CET on 17 February 2023. Learn more

From the EU: The European Commission adopted a proposal to give more time to certify medical devices to mitigate the risk of shortages. The proposal introduces a longer transition period to adapt to new rules, as foreseen under the Medical Devices Regulation. Read more
