As we look ahead to the coming year, we are pleased to introduce the 2026–2027 HTAi Board of Directors.
Following the HTAi 2026 Annual General Meeting in Istanbul, we welcome our newly elected Directors and congratulate our returning Board members. Together, they will help guide the Society as HTAi continues to foster collaboration, support its members, and advance health technology assessment around the world.

Expression of Interest Opportunity: HTAi Asia Policy Forum
HTAi is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from eligible for-profit Organizational Members to join the Asia Policy Forum—a unique platform where health technology assessment (HTA) leaders come together to exchange perspectives, tackle shared challenges, and help shape the future of HTA policy and practice across the Asia-Pacific region.
The Asia Policy Forum is more than a meeting. It brings together senior representatives from industry, government, academia, and patient organizations for open, strategic discussions on the issues shaping healthcare today and in the years ahead. Through collaboration and the exchange of ideas, participants contribute to conversations that strengthen evidence-informed decision-making and support more effective health systems across the region.
Participation offers the opportunity to:
- Engage directly with HTA leaders and decision-makers from across the Asia-Pacific region
- Share perspectives on emerging policy issues, evidence, and innovative approaches
- Gain insight into regional priorities and the evolving HTA landscape
- Build meaningful relationships that support collaboration across sectors

One of the highlights of the HTAi 2026 Annual Meeting was celebrating the remarkable individuals whose leadership, research, and dedication continue to shape the future of health technology assessment. Through the HTAi Awards and Scholarships, we recognized outstanding achievements in research, education, publishing, and scientific excellence across our global HTA community.
David Banta Distinguished Career Award
HTAi President Ann Single presented the David Banta Distinguished Career Award to Laura Sampietro-Colom in recognition of her exceptional career and lasting contributions to health technology assessment.
HTAi Scholarships
The next generation of HTA leaders was recognized through the 2026 HTAi Scholarships. The Educational Scholarship was awarded to Gebeyehu Abate (Ethiopia), while the Jill Sanders Memorial Scholarship was presented to Trudy Leong (South Africa) and Luciana Silu Mduma (Tanzania).
Egon Jonsson Award & IJTAHC Reviewers
Contributions to publishing were celebrated through the Egon Jonsson Award, presented by HTAi Vice President Debjani Mueller. This year’s award recognized the authors of Defining Early Health Technology Assessment: Building Consensus Using Delphi Technique, led by Grutters JPC and colleagues, for their contribution to the International Journal of Technology Assessment in Health Care (IJTAHC).
HTAi and IJTAHC also recognized the contributions of peer reviewers. Melissa Pegg received the 2026 Top Reviewer Award, while Qunfei Chen, Linda Mundy, and Melissa Pegg were recognized among the journal’s Top Reviewers for 2026.
Best Presentation Awards
The Annual Meeting concluded with the Best Presentation Awards, recognizing outstanding scientific contributions from this year’s program.

The journey continues as we look ahead to the HTAi 2027 Annual Meeting, taking place in Brussels, Belgium, June 12–16, 2027.
Hosted in partnership with the Belgian Health Care Knowledge Centre (KCE), the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (RIZIV/INAMI), and supported by the Brussels Centre for Collaboration in Health (BCCH), next year’s meeting will bring together the global HTA community to explore the theme, HTA in a Time of Transformation.
Building on the conversations and connections made in Istanbul, HTAi 2027 will provide an opportunity to exchange ideas, share emerging research, and explore how health technology assessment can continue to evolve in response to a changing healthcare landscape.
