The HTAi Latin America Regional Meeting in Cartagena, Colombia
HTAi is collaborating with the Instituto de Evaluación Tecnológica en Salud (IETS) to host a one-day Regional Meeting in Cartagena, Colombia on August 14, 2024.
The Latin America Regional Meeting is open to all stakeholders and will explore the topic “From Policy to Practice, HTA’s Role in Improving Health Systems.” Attendees can expect insights from internationally renowned HTA experts, as well as senior and regional leaders shaping Latin America’s HTA landscape.

PCIG PASS Program
HTAi’s Patient and Citizen Involvement in HTA Interest Group (PCIG) offers the PCIG PASS to support patients, carers and patient representatives attend HTAi Annual Meeting and pre-meeting workshops who would be otherwise unable to take part.
You may be eligible to apply if you:
- have lived experience as a patient or carer, or
- represent patients (such as in a patient or community organisation, including online groups), or
- represent patients in an HTA committee (such as a consumer/patient/public/lay member), or
- have an HTAi Participation Grant or is a plenary speaker, and fall into one of the above 3 categories and need a ‘partial’ PCIG PASS to cover a gap between the Grant and the PASS.
HTAi Appoints New Executive Director
HTAi is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Hameed Khan as the organization’s new Executive Director.
Dr. Khan brings with him over 15 years of invaluable experience in the health research and innovation space, spanning various sectors including not-for-profit, government, industry, and healthcare delivery.
The Executive Director plays a pivotal role in providing leadership, fostering organizational growth and impact, and ensuring the efficient management of resources to propel the organization towards its strategic goals. Dr. Khan’s appointment marks a significant milestone in steering HTAi through the next phases of its strategic initiatives. His experience and leadership in the health research and innovation sectors make him an invaluable asset in guiding HTAi towards even greater accomplishments.
Call for Reviewers: International Journal of Technology Assessment in Health Care
IJTAHC is seeking reviewers with expertise in areas within the scope of IJTAHC relating to health technology assessment including systematic review, health economic evaluation, patient/citizen issues and health policy. Participating as an IJTAHC Reviewer is not only beneficial for your career development, it is a great way to contribute to the global HTA community!
International Journal of Technology Assessment in Health Care serves as a forum for the wide range of stakeholders, including policy makers, academics, patients, health technology developers and health professionals interested in the intended and unintended consequences of health technology. Articles on any aspect related to health technology assessment (HTA) are welcomed.
The journal covers the development, evaluation, diffusion and use of health technology, as well as its impact on the organization and management of health care systems and public health. The journal particularly considers articles in the following areas: Evaluation or development of methods, processes, or policies used in HTA; primary research on the effects of implementing HTA or their findings; and novel research within particular HTAs that provides learning for HTA.

Hospital-Based HTA Interest Group Survey
HB-HTA IG extends an exclusive invitation for contribution to an international study on the integration of Environmental Sustainability (ES) into HB-HTA. This initiative is led by Michela Bobini, Rossella Di Bidino, Iga Lipska, and Americo Cicchetti.
Your insights are crucial to achieving the study’s three main objectives:
- Provide an overview of global hospital progress in integrating an ES dimension into HB-HTA.
- Assess the consistency of HB-HTA activities with hospital ES strategies.
- Explore emerging approaches and methods for integrating environmental sustainability into HB-HTA as identified in the literature.
The survey will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. Your input is invaluable for the study. The collected data will be instrumental in crafting an international paper to share insights and advancements in HB-HTA and ES integration. Learn more

Call for members: HTAi – DIA Working Group on Uncertainty in HTA
The HTAi-DIA Working Group on Uncertainty in HTA is expanding its membership.
The Working Group is extending an open call across the HTA and regulatory communities as part of the expansion of the HTAi-DIA Working Group on Uncertainty into four work streams:
- Theme 1. Application of the developed guidance in the real world (pilots by regulatory agencies, e.g., FDA, European Medicines Agency having shown interest).
- Theme 2. Systematically mapping available mitigation strategies and developing a method to link mitigation strategies to uncertainties, whether based on uncertainty building blocks or uncertainty domains.
- Theme 3. Development of guidance in other decision-making processes such medical devices as elements similar to the theoretical building blocks of uncertainty listed in the guidance paper are widely found in other scientific fields.
- Theme 4. Developing a systematic approach to the uncertainties in precision medicine – compound uncertainties, biological, diagnostic, decision-making, drug.
