WS05 – Application Of Health Technology Assessment To Standardize Clinical Practice: Therapeutic Positioning Methods

Summary: Evaluating therapeutic alternatives is essential to ensure the implementation of the best options for managing complex health conditions. This workshop is designed to provide the necessary tools to position treatments based on key criteria: effectiveness, safety, patient preferences, and cost-effectiveness. This evidence-based approach helps policymakers and methodologists make informed decisions, optimize resources, and enhance quality of care. 

WS06 – HTA 101: Introduction To Health Technology Assessment

Summary: Get a strong start with this popular workshop, updated for every HTAi annual meeting.  Provides an understanding of essential and current HTA concepts, methods, key issues, trends, and selected “hot topics” to help attendees engage fully in the annual meeting.  Good for those who are new to HTA and those wanting a “refresher” course.  Course leader: Clifford Goodman, PhD, a past president HTAi. 

WS07 – Nextgen Participation Of Patient And Citizen Representatives With Active Participation In Coverage Policies

Presenters: Manuel Donato, Carlos González Malla, Andrea Verónica Fraschina, María de San Martin 
Summary: The official body for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) in Argentina, the National Commission for Health Technology Assessment and Clinical Excellence (CONETEC), has an explicit process for patient and citizen participation. These actors are organized in a Patients’ Roundtable and participate in multiple activities within the work process. This workshop will showcase their experience and provide keys to improve their participation.

WS08 – Strengthening Capacities Among Speaking Spanish Communities To Challenge Gender Approach As Equity Domain In Health Technology Assessment

Presenters: Analía Abt-Sacks, Gustavo Mora-Navarro, Lorena del Pilar Mesa-Melgarejo, Soledad Isern de Val
Summary: Health Technology Assessment (HTA) current practices may not sufficiently consider the complexities of gender approach as equity domain when assessing and integrating technologies into existing healthcare systems. The workshop intends, first to set the bases for a collaborative network among Spanish speaking countries that fosters ongoing learning, and second agree on the basic elements to develop standardized methodological tools.

Announcement: HTAi and PAHO/RedETSA to Host Joint Annual Meetings in Buenos Aires

HTAi and PAHO/RedETSA are pleased to announce a collaboration that will see both organizations hold their Annual Meetings during the same week in Buenos Aires, Argentina, June 2025.

The RedETSA Annual Meeting will be held on June 13 and 14, leading into the HTAi 2025 Annual Meeting from June 14–18. Together, these events will set the stage for a shared focus on health technology assessment (HTA) across the Latin American region. As part of the RedETSA program, a series of Spanish-language workshops tailored to the regional audience will take place on June 14.

◤ Apply to be the next Scientific Secretary for the HTAi Latin America Policy Forum!

HTAi is looking for a highly skilled individual or organization to serve as the Scientific Secretary for the HTAi Latin America Policy Forum (April 2026 – April 2027). The successful candidate will shadow the current Scientific Secretary at the 2025 Forum in Mexico City (August 10–12, 2025) to ensure a smooth transition. This role involves leading topic selection, drafting key materials, facilitating discussions, and contributing to high-level strategic dialogue on HTA in Latin America. The position offers an honorarium of $41,192 USD per year, travel coverage, and global recognition in the HTA community. Candidates must be fluent in English and Spanish and have expertise in HTA policy and research. Apply by April 7, 2025, at 17:00 MDT by submitting a Letter of Intent and references to policyforum@htai.org.

These deceptive emails may request sensitive information, involve unusual requests, or originate from questionable email addresses. Please be advised that our organization will never solicit sensitive information or initiate any unusual requests via email outside of our official communication channels. Official communication channels can include the following:  

  • HTAi branded emails from official HTAi email accounts
  • Direct messages from our membership and events platform, EventsAir  
  • Direct messages in our Annual Meeting event app 

Stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to ensure your online safety.

◤ HTAi Board Election 2025: Meet the Candidates!

The HTAi Board of Directors provides strategic leadership, ensuring strong governance and alignment with the Society’s mission. Board members bring their expertise to guide decision-making, evaluate financial and operational performance, and strengthen governance frameworks. They actively participate in meetings, contribute to strategic initiatives, and uphold the highest ethical standards. Through informed judgment, collaboration, and consensus-building, the Board advances the Society’s long-term success while representing the interests of its diverse stakeholders.

As an HTAi member, exercising your right to vote ensures you have a direct say in the leadership and future of the organization. Each member brings a unique perspective, experience, and expertise that is crucial to well-rounded decision-making, leading to a vibrant and involved community.

The HTAi Board Election 2025 opens on April 1, 2025 and will close on April 30, 2025. The election is managed by CES, a trusted third party electoral service. CES will directly email the election ballots to all members of the Society in good standing. Votes must be submitted via the unique electronic ballot provided by CES. As per HTAi bylaws, only members with up-to-date 2025 membership fees are eligible to vote. If you have not established your 2025 membership, renew your membership today to ensure you can participate.
