Two HTAi Interest Groups open call for Technical Officers

Connect with the global HTA community and learn more about HTAi Interest Group activities!

The Real World Evidence & Artificial Intelligence (RWE-AI) Interest Group and Information Retrieval Interest Group (IRG) are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual who is willing to provide one to two days a month to support their Chair(s) and Steering Committee as a Technical Officer from now to December 2023. 

Technical Officers fulfill responsibilities such as defining agendas, setting calls and taking minutes, writing reports, supporting project work and scientific papers, drafting press releases and other similar activities.

About IRG

The IRG is an HTAi Interest Group for individuals who provide information resources, discuss literature search methodology and investigate technologies appropriate to HTA work. The IRG invites members working in a wide variety of capacities to support informed decision making by exchanging information and sharing expertise for advancing processes, methodology, and information retrieval tools.

About RWE-AI

The Interest Group on Real World Evidence and Artificial Intelligence was established in 2020 to gather members interested in the generation and use of RWE and/or AI for HTA. The Interest Group provides an environment for education and training, communication and knowledge sharing, and capacity building and collaboration.

The RWE-AI IG aims to:

  • Educate evidence developers and assessors, including practitioners, researchers and regulators, on how AI and machine learning (ML) are/will be used, on the RWE generation and utilization in the context of regulatory and HTA dossiers;
  • Identify and engage people with interest and expertise in RWE, AI and HTA and to explore further use in collaborative projects;
  • Facilitate cross-border and interdisciplinary collaboration and identify early cases of best practice;
  • Provide a discussion forum where IG members can provide insights, exchange ideas and make collective decisions about subjects related to the mission.

To apply, please complete and submit the HTAi Technical Officer application form and your CV to [email protected] by the following dates:

  • Real World Evidence and AI Interest Group: Friday, March 10, 2023
  • Information Retrieval Interest Group: Friday, March 17, 2023

All applications will be reviewed by the Interest Groups and candidates will be notified in March/early April. 

Please note: Candidates must be an HTAi member in good standing to be considered for this position. If you have not renewed your membership for 2023, you can do so here.

The 2023 Global Policy Forum is taking place on March 26-28, 2023, in The Hague, the Netherlands. The meeting will centre around the 2023 Global Policy Forum background paper, “The Value and Impact of Health Technology Assessment. HTAi 2023 Annual Meeting Early Bird Registration Open Now

Early bird registration for the HTAi 2023 Annual Meeting is open!

The HTAi 2023 Annual Meeting will introduce hundreds of presentations over five days to promote the development, understanding, and use of HTA around the world as a means of fostering innovation and effective use of resources in health care. The presentations include a keynote and three plenaries that will explore various aspects of the event’s overall theme, the Road to Policy and Clinical Integration for health technologies. The Meeting will take place in Adelaide, Australia, from June 24 to 28, 2023.-

    • Early-bird registration deadline: Thurday, March 30, 2023 at Midnight MDT (UTC-6) 
    • Standard registration deadline: Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Midnight MDT (UTC-6)

HTAi Board President Dr. Wija Oortwijn is a confirmed speaker at the GetReal Conference 2023 on March 16, 2023, in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The aim of the conference is to inform the RWE community of recent developments and the future direction of RWE, highlighting emerging initiatives and ongoing challenges, but more importantly the opportunities to collaborate and collectively address these challenges. DIA Europe
HTAi Board President Dr. Wija Oortwijn, Directors Dimitra Lingri and Wim Goettsch, members Milou Amber Hogervorst and Bettina Ryll, and collaborator Rick Vreman are presenting a session at DIA Europe on March 23, 2023, in Basel, Switzerland. The session is called “Uncertainty Management in Regulatory and Health Technology Assessment Decision-Making – Guidance of the HTAi-DIA Working Group”. Learn more

DCIG Writing Project
The HTA in Developing Countries Interest Group has launched a writing project on a topic pertinent to low- and middle-income countries. The written pieces will be published on the Interest Group website under the title, “Emerging Issues Relevant to Developing Countries. Winners of the competition will be awarded a monetary prize. Submissions are accepted until April 30, 2023. Learn more

From EUPATI: The European Patients Academy on Therapeutic Innovation (EUPATI) is leading a 3-year training project entitled ‘HTA4Patients’ beginning March 1, 2023. HTA4Patients will enhance the education, training and information that EUPATI already provides on HTA via its Open Classroom and Toolbox empowering patients and patient organisations to play a vital role in the implementation of the new framework.
