Closing Date Extended for SDCB Committee Expressions of Interest
The Scientific Development and Capacity Building (SDCB) Committee plays a pivotal role in shaping HTAi’s scientific direction and expanding HTA capacity worldwide.
- Sets priorities and carries out the strategic direction for advancing scientific development and capacity building
- Participates in a peer review process of applications received by HTAi for endorsement
- Considers potential models for online materials, resources and other capacity building tools and toolkits
- Establishes potential collaborative partnerships along various projects undertaken by HTAi
- Conducts the evaluation of the applications for the HTAi Scholarship Program
- Conducts the evaluation for the Egon Jonsson Award and the Sigrid Droste Ethics Award
At this time, The SDCB Committee has opened a call for Expressions of Interest to fill one (1) vacancy on the committee. Members who wish to submit their Expression of Interest are asked to fill out this application form and return it by September 26, 2023.

he HTAi Interest Group for Patient and Citizen Involvement in HTA (PCIG) is currently seeking Expressions of Interest for an industry representative to fill a vacancy on its Steering Committee.
PCIG Steering Committee members provide governance, strategy and oversight of the plans and deliverables of any Project Sub-Committee. Full details of the role of Steering Committee members can be found in PCIG’s Terms of Reference (May 2023).
Criteria
The following criteria must be fulfilled by the successful candidate:
- Able to demonstrate active participation in the field of patient or citizen involvement in health technology assessment
- Able to meet the expectations of Steering Committee membership as set out in the Terms of References, e.g. commit to take an active role in driving the work of the Interest Group and providing practical assistance to activities undertaken by the group as appropriate and complete a three-year term (from October 2023-2026)
- Able to participate in additional HTAi committees
- Preference will be given to those members who have actively participated in the Interest Group. Please note all applicants must be a member of HTAi and PCIG.

Three years; October 2023 to October 2026

HTAi 2024 Annual Meeting Abstract Submissions open soon!
The HTAi Annual Meeting is a key international gathering for sharing cutting-edge research, advancing discussions in policy and methods, and building global networks. The HTAi 2024 Annual Meeting will unite the global HTA community for dynamic discussions and debates on the future of health technology assessment worldwide. Focused on the central theme, “A Turning Point for HTA? Sustainability, Networks, and Innovation,” this year’s Annual Meeting promises to be a pivotal moment in shaping the course of healthcare assessment practices.
HTAi 2024 Annual Meeting Abstract submissions for all presentation categories will open on September 28, 2023. Abstract Guidelines are currently available on the 2024 Annual Meeting website. Annual Meeting abstracts undergo a meticulous review process to maintain the elevated standard of presentations to which our attendees have grown accustomed. The 2024 submission guidelines have changed. Please carefully and thoroughly read the updated guidelines to maximize your abstract’s potential for success.
Please note: Workshop and Panel submissions close October 25, 2023. Oral and Poster submissions close December 7, 2023.

The Jill Sanders Memorial scholarship is offered in memory of Dr. Jill Sanders, former Vice President of HTAi and President and CEO of the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health.
Dr. Sanders was a long-time champion of international collaboration in Health Technology Assessment (HTA). She was deeply committed to building HTA capacity in developing countries and to mentoring students and professionals. The Jill Sanders Memorial Scholarship provides funding for individuals residing in African countries to further their knowledge of HTA. The program objective is to have a positive impact on HTA capacity in African countries through developing professional HTA capacity.
The Health Technology Assessment international (HTAi) Jill Sanders Memorial Scholarship provides funding support for individuals studying or working in the healthcare field in African countries to advance their knowledge and skills directly related to health technology assessment (HTA).
By providing financial assistance to complete education programs or training in health technology assessment for the purpose of applying their knowledge and skills in their country of origin, HTAi advances its mission of promoting the development, communication, understanding, and use of HTA around the world.
A total of $20,000 CAD is available for the HTAi Educational Scholarship program each fiscal year. Scholarship applications are due October 15 of each year (unless otherwise specified).
Reviewers Wanted: The International Journal of Technology Assessment in Health Care
International Journal of Technology Assessment in Health Care (IJTAHC) serves as a forum for the wide range of health policy makers and professionals interested in the economic, social, ethical, medical and public health implications of health technology. It covers the development, evaluation, diffusion and use of health technology, as well as its impact on the organization and management of health care systems and public health. In addition to general essays and research reports, regular columns on technology assessment reports and thematic sections are published.
IJTAHC is seeking reviewers with expertise in areas within the scope of IJTAHC relating to health technology assessment including systematic review, health economic evaluation, patient/citizen issues and health policy. Participating as an IJTAHC Reviewer is not only beneficial for your career development, it is a great way to contribute to the global HTA community!
