HTAi supports IWD 2025

Feb 28, 2025

IWD2025

International Women’s Day (IWD), celebrated on March 8, is a global day recognizing the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It is also a call to action for accelerating gender equality worldwide. This year, the 2025 theme, Accelerate Action, highlights the urgency of breaking down barriers and driving meaningful progress.

Why Accelerate Action Matters

According to the World Economic Forum, at the current pace, full gender parity will not be achieved until 2158—five generations from now. This stark reality underscores the need to act swiftly and decisively to create a more inclusive world for women and girls. To Accelerate Action, individuals and organizations must focus on strategies that drive measurable progress, such as forging women’s economic empowerment, recruiting, retaining, and developing diverse talent, supporting women in leadership, decision-making, business, and STEM, ensuring healthcare access and informed health decisions, providing quality education and training for women and girls, and advancing women’s participation in sustainable agriculture, sports, and creative industries.

How HTA Supports IWD’s Mission

HTA plays a vital role in advancing gender equality by ensuring that healthcare decisions are based on rigorous evidence that considers the unique needs of women. Incorporating gender-based analysis into HTA helps to identify disparities in health outcomes, advocate for equitable resource allocation, and support innovations that improve healthcare access for women and girls. HTAi continues to champion this approach, reinforcing the importance of inclusive research, policy development, and implementation to drive meaningful progress toward gender equity in healthcare systems worldwide.

HTAi’s Commitment to Gender Equality

HTAi is committed to fostering gender equality in healthcare and beyond. Diversity, including gender diversity, is fundamental to HTAi and its leadership. As a women-led organization with strong female representation in key leadership roles, HTAi demonstrates a steadfast commitment to gender diversity at every level of the organization.

This dedication is also seen in HTAi’s work. HTAi promotes inclusive research and policy to ensure healthcare innovations address diverse needs, advancing women in leadership roles within HTA, encouraging mentorship and professional development through knowledge-sharing and skill-building initiatives, and driving global collaboration with international stakeholders to break down gender-based disparities in healthcare access and outcomes.
