Overview
The HTAi Early Career Network (ECN IG) is a global platform that supports early-career researchers and practitioners working in health technology assessment (HTA). The ECN provides opportunities for learning, collaboration, and professional development by facilitating knowledge sharing, networking, and access to training and capacity-building initiatives.
The ECN currently has almost 200 members across multiple countries, reflecting a diverse and growing international community of early-career HTA professionals.

HTAi Early Career Network Mentoring Program
The HTAi ECN Mentoring Program is a flagship initiative designed to support early-career professionals. The program fosters mutual learning, knowledge sharing, and professional growth by connecting early-career members with experienced HTA professionals from across the global HTAi community.
Running annually, the ECN Mentoring Program provides a flexible framework for one-to-one mentoring relationships that support career development, and professional reflection. Each program cycle concludes at the HTAi Annual Meeting, offering participants an opportunity to reflect on their mentoring journey and connect with the wider HTA community.
The ECN Mentoring program aims to:
- Support early-career members in navigating career pathways in HTA
- Facilitate knowledge exchange and peer learning across sectors and regions
- Strengthen professional skills, confidence, and networks
- Promote inclusive and supportive mentoring relationships within HTAi
The program typically runs over several months and includes:
- Monthly one-to-one virtual mentor–mentee meetings
- A program kick-off session to set expectations and provide guidance
- Mid-program check-ins or feedback sessions for mentors and mentees
- Additional learning or networking activities organised by the ECN
- A program wrap-up aligned with the HTAi Annual Meeting
Mentoring discussions are confidential, creating a safe and trusted space for open dialogue. Mentees are expected to take a proactive role in scheduling meetings, setting agendas, and identifying topics for discussion.
Recruitment for mentors and mentees typically takes place in July-August, following the HTAi Annual Meeting, with the program kicking off in September.
Separate application processes are in place for mentors and mentees, with selection based on availability, interests, and experience.

Projects
As a part of its program for capacity building, HTAi wants to provide guidance to those approaching Health Technology Assessment (HTA) for the first time (we will refer to them as “newcomers to HTA”).
The resources included were developed and collected with the main aim to provide guidance to navigate within the HTA universe. This spams from general introduction to methods and processes.
The resources have been developed in an understandable text for newcomers and link to other sources which are already existing, such as proceedings, guidelines, scientific articles, handbooks. The resources alone do not aim to train for the production of an HTA report but provide a basic understanding of HTA, its tools, methods, and products. To successfully work in the HTA field, newcomers shall follow further specific training and consider specific guidelines.

Propose an ECN activity
The Propose an ECN Activity initiative provides Early Career Network members with an opportunity to contribute to the development of ECN activities. Members are invited to submit ideas for webinars, workshops, or other learning and networking activities relevant to early-career professionals in HTA.
Submissions are reviewed by the ECN Steering Committee, and selected proposals may be further developed with support from the ECN team.
