George Valiotis: Executive Director of HTAi
George Valiotis is the newly appointed Executive Director of HTAi, bringing over 25 years of global leadership experience in health systems and health technology assessment (HTA). His extensive background includes shaping local implementation and influencing global policy to ensure equitable, evidence-based improvements in healthcare.
Prior to joining HTAi, George led the European Health Management Association (EHMA), where he successfully expanded its membership and established it as a prominent voice in health system governance. His leadership in the European Digital Health Technology Assessment (EDiHTA) project has been pivotal in developing innovative frameworks for assessing digital health technologies.
As the former CEO of HIV Scotland, George played a crucial role in Scotland’s implementation of HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), making it the first UK nation to offer this service through its national health system. His efforts were recognized with the British Medical Association’s Medfash Prize, highlighting his focus on clinical and human rights outcomes.
George has also contributed significantly to health strategies in Australia and held leadership positions with the International AIDS Society in Switzerland. His ability to bridge local health needs with global policy strategies will enhance HTAi’s mission to improve healthcare outcomes worldwide.
