The HTAi Rare Diseases Interest Group (RDIG) is proud to be recognized as one of HTAi’s most active and impactful Interest Groups, with growing international visibility in the field of rare diseases. Driven by a committed and collaborative Steering Committee, RDIG plays a vital role in shaping global dialogue and advancing initiatives within the HTA community. RDIG is currently inviting applications for one open position on its Steering Committee—an opportunity to help guide the strategic direction and governance of this dynamic and globally connected group.
Term
Three years, beginning June 2025. The term can then be renewed for a further 3-year term by mutual agreement.
Requirements
- Applicants should have long standing experience in rare diseases that benefits the RDIG*
- Together with the chair and the co-chairs, steering committee members are responsible for the governance of the RDIG including:
- Participating in approximately 7 x 1.5 hour steering committee meetings per year, schedule at 1200 UK time to accommodate all jurisdictions
- Shaping and participating in the online Annual Business Meeting of the RDIG
- Contributing to RDIG events at HTAi conferences and online webinars
- Oversight of RDIG projects
- Ensuring HTAi policies and processes are adhered to and review of reports of RDIG activities
- Develop a work plan that aligns with the objectives of the Society Strategic Plan and adhere to it
- Commenting on recruitment processes for new members and the Technical Officer and making decisions about the preferred candidate
- Evaluating the Chair and/or Co-Chair at the end of each term
- Review Terms Of Reference every three years and make a recommendation to the Board of Directors
- Contribute to RDIG specific sub-committees to manage specific governance activities such as finances and funding, communications etc
- Review and comment on reports and process documents developed sub-committees
- Promote the work of RDIG in all stakeholder networks internationally
*RDIG’s appointment process seeks to ensure a balance of expertise and geographic diversity in its Steering Committee. As the current Steering Committee has strong membership from Europe, applications from those outside Europe are particularly welcome to ensure a globally representative Steering Committee. Applications are especially encouraged from patient representatives, the medical device industry and the healthcare sector.
